As some of you might have noticed, the Cape has experienced some unusually high rainfall in the past couple of weeks. One of the results of this is that, what was previously our fabulous desert venue has now turned into a beautiful, bigger-than-ever-in-its-history lake - an incident that had Paul J literally floating around in the middle of the night at the venue last Friday.
Now this is great for the environment, low dam levels, and cozying up next to a fire with a cup of hot soup but does not bode well for a four day freedom-of-expression, out-there camping experience. Being cold is one thing, but being cold and very, very wet is another less pleasant prospect. This is after all is an offshoot of Burning Man, not Floating Man.
So, after consulting with as many Afrika Burners as we could, we have decided that it makes absolute sense to change the date of Afrika Burns to a dryer, warmer friendlier time of year.
The official new date of Afrika Burns is:
22 25 November 2007
We sincerely hope that the date change does not complicate any plans that you have or don’t have and that you will still be able to make it to Afrika Burns in November.
We feel excited at the prospect of a hotter, balmier, more fabulous burn, with more art, longer days, cooler cocktails and having to wear less clothing. We hope that you do too.
