current news June 2007
|
hi all
the gathering in Cape Town on Sunday 27 May was hugely successful - an opportunity to meet with Paul J (USA) and other Cape Town participants, and confirmation of proposals and participation (besides a heavenly location and bottomless soup pot - thank you to Monique and Richard!)
after months of extremely exhausting E-mail communications between Cape Town, San Francisco and Johannesburg, now that Paul J is back with us AFRIKA BURNS is about to ignite into action. he hit the tarmac running, with endless meetings and introductions (JHB participants this week, back to Cape Town next week) met with boundless energy and evangelistic zeal! Paul brought a whack of BURNING MAN material to share with us, and we urge you all to attend one of the gatherings prior to the event where this footage will be screened - it is inspiring and inflammatory and you will SO want to be a part of AFRIKA BURNS! both Paul and Monique are up for addressing private gatherings of participants - please contact them to discuss.
so the most important news is that the deadline for art installation and themed camp proposals has been extended for the LAST time to 7 June 2007 (to accommodate our legendary apathy). however, judging by proposals already received and registered - we have the makings of an extraordinary (and unexpectedly larger) event!
there will be many more informal gatherings to discuss various aspects of the festival (you will be informed by E-mail). meanwhile the AFRIKA BURNS website continues to be updated (new information being uploaded daily), and the WIKKIA site is beginning to work as a community notice board - PLEASE USE IT! we will continue to send out E-mail updates dealing with a variety of topics - all of these are archived on the website for easy reference.
hope you are all warm and well and UP FOR AFRIKA BURNS!
